Membership

How does my country apply for organisational membership with the WFOT?

In the Resource Centre you will find the documents ‘ Guidelines and Procedures Country Membership’ and the ‘WFOT Constitution and Standing Orders (2006)’ which state the criteria for membership. Once a National Association is established in the country applying for membership, a copy of the constitution of that association must be sent (preferably electronically) to the WFOT Vice President Finance, the Programme Coordinator for Standards and Quality and the Executive Director at the WFOT Secretariat at admin@wfot.org.au  The constitution will be reviewed and a recommendation put to the WFOT Council (which meets every 2 years) to accept the applying country for Associate Membership, provided the constitution meets the requirements.

How do I apply for individual membership with the WFOT?

The current method for becoming an individual member of the WFOT is to apply through your national member association or through the national member association of the country in which you are working.  Contact details of national member associations are found in the Country Profile.

NB. Membership in the WFOT does not imply that you graduated from a WFOT approved educational program. The WFOT has no mechanism for approving the academic credentials of individual members.

Further information can be found in the Resource Centre - Membership category.

I would like to be an individual member of the WFOT but there is no occupational therapist association in my country.

To become an Individual Member of the WFOT, you must apply through your national member association or through the national member association of the country in which you are working. If your country presently does not have a national member association, WFOT suggests you contact the member national associations bordering your country and enquire if you are able to join their membership. Contact details of national member associations are found in 'Country Profile'.

Note: Membership in the WFOT does not imply that you graduated from a WFOT approved educational programme. The WFOT has no mechanism for confirming the academic credentials of individual members.
